 Social Media platforms that I use and the purpose, how you can connect to other users and the tools you can use within the site.

VampireFreaks.com

VampireFreaks.com is a social media platform that was established in 1999 by site creator Jet Berelson. the site started out dedicated to Gothic music but quickly became a social media platform for all "Freaks". The site now sees millions of members through their servers daily.

        The site is used for various things I.E. Discussion forums, event postings, music interviews and people selling their own music within the store. the store however is not just for music as you can also by merchandise which allows users to talk to each other. You can set up your own profile page and let people know what artists, movies, TV shows and books you are interested in for example. You can use different tools within the site one of which is called a Shoutout! This means that if you have a picture with someone and they agree to you sharing it on-line you can give a “Shoutout!” to said person.

       All members are expected to adhere to strict rules and regulations. These rules include but are not limited to: pictures must not be of someone else or have someone else included in the picture without the consent of said person; the person must not display any Homophobic or racial hate on the site. although there are rules and people monitoring the site there has been a few pieces of controversy linked to the site.

REMcloud

REMcloud is a very different sort of site as it is all about your dreams. Yes, you read that right and may be slightly confused, I don't mean it is about your ambitions but 100% about the dreams you had last night while you were snuggled up in bed. the whole premise of REMcloud is for members to share what they had dreamt about and for members to share their thoughts, comments or experiences with the same dream. The users can also use a search criteria to find people who have had a dream like yours.one of the most interesting tools that can be used is called dream mosaic. what dream mosaic does is takes your dream marks out the characteristics and location in which you had the dream and it means people can see what the most common dreams are in a particular area for example Bostonians might be primarily dreaming about the destruction of the world while people in Finland might be dreaming about the economy. 

 You can customise your profile by uploading a picture of yourself, choosing a unique name and when you gain followers you can comment, mention or chat to them. you can also make them your favourites and this would then show up on your friend/followers list in order of your choosing. 

Etiquette of the site. all users are expected to adhere to the terms and conditions that they agreed to when they initially signed up. for example when they sign up they will be taking through the different conditions some of these are pretty straight forward and some are a little more complex. One of the main rules of the site is that you can't be a member if you are a convicted sex offender as this would be considered a security issue and the authorities would be notified of this infringement.
